Overview of HKU Engineering Programmes

The  Faculty of Engineering offers comprehensive undergraduate engineering programmes for high caliber students, so that they can be equipped with professional knowledge and technical skills in engineering, to provide solutions to engineering problems that will change the world.

HKU Engineering students would be enrolled to the Year 1 Engineering Core courses. Students will start to take discipline courses under their respective curriculum in Year 2. They can consider taking internship in Year 3, and finish the Capstone project (i.e. final-year project) in Year 4.

For applicants intending to enter the University in September 2025, there are a few major changes in the mechanisms of admissions as well as the programmes offered:

Each programme page contains information for JUPAS (Joint University Programmes Admission System) applicants. ‘Level’ refers to the level of attainment at the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) Examinations. For local non-JUPAS, Mainland and International applicants, please consult the University Admissions Office website for further information on the minimum academic credentials necessary for admission.
