AI-ready Engineer: Harness AI for real world engineering solutions

We recognise the importance of AI and are embracing it in order to ensure that we can leverage its power and potential for good. It is compulsory for all our students to take two AI literacy courses, and optional to enroll in AI courses for their respective disciplines.

Artificial Intelligence Literacy I (AILT1001) (Compulsory)

Artificial Intelligence Literacy II (Compulsory)

(Pick one of the following)

AILT9018 AI for Engineers

  1. To employ general-purpose AI tools as part of their engineering literacy.

  2. To apply core AI technologies to tackle real-world engineering challenges.

  3. To develop critical awareness of the advantages and limitations of modern AI technologies within engineering contexts.
  • Through two modular learning units, students progress from 1) adopting AI tools for engineering literacy, to 2) hands-on development, and finally to 3) problem-focused application, while emphasizing ethical and responsible AI use.
  • Course webpage for more details: https://ailt9018.engg.hku.hk/
  • Designed to support students without proficiency in programming.

AILT9019 AI Literacy II

  1. Identify suitable AI development tools for different applications

  2. Apply AI development tools to solve real-world problems

  3. Critically assess ethical, social, and technical impacts of AI solutions
  • Focuses on broad, practical AI applications.
  • Uses low-code platforms to enable students to work on AI apps efficiently.
