Bridge Worlds. Master Both.

Earn Two Prestigious HKU Degrees in Five Years

The Global Engineering and Business Programme (GEBP) offers a study programme fully integrated into two world-class Faculties — the Faculty of Engineering and the HKU Business School. It is engineering precision fused with business acumen—unlocking synergies in technology innovation, strategic leadership, and real-world impact that no single discipline can match. In five years, you do not just add skills—you multiply your impact, bridging worlds to create solutions greater than the sum.

Why This Programme

  • Empowers students to develop the mindset and skills for engineering excellence and business innovation.
  • During their five years of study, students will enjoy full access to the comprehensive learning resources offered by both Faculties. For examples, scholarships, exchange opportunities, enrichment activities, career support, etc.
  • Offers a five-year interdisciplinary programme leading to two degrees: Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Business Administration.
  • Eligible for the CSHK HKU Engineering Flagship Programme Scholarship and Placement.
  1. During their studies at HKU Engineering, GEBP students will be eligible to apply and may be selected for a one-off HKD $40,000 scholarship sponsored by the China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited (CSHK).
  2. In addition, they may be selected for an exclusive two-month paid internship opportunity.

What You Will Study

GEBP provides more flexibility, knowledge and insight than a traditional single degree programme.

It is engineering precision fused with business acumen—unlocking synergies in technology innovation, strategic leadership, and real-world impact that no single discipline can match. All GEBP students are required to complete at least one overseas exchange programme prior to graduation.

Students can select one Engineering major from six choices and one Business major from five options. Hence they can thus choose from 6 X 5 = 30 possible options as they pursue their degrees in Engineering and Business Administration.

The fifth year of the programme is offered on a self-financing basis, with tuition fees for local students set higher than those of government-funded programmes.

Professional Recognition

All BEng programmes now being offered under the code 6937 are accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).

Students of the BBA programme are eligible to enrol in the CGMA® Finance Leadership Program and kickstart their journey to become a member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a Chartered Global Management Accountant while they are studying in the University.

Career Prospects

The majority of BEng graduates will work in the engineering sector, with other students serving the societies in the business, education, social and community sectors. Around 9% of the BEng graduates will pursue further studies in Hong Kong or overseas. At the same time, as BBA graduates, students can also pursue a career in fields such as accounting, advertising, banking, brand management, customer relationship management, finance, human resource management, information systems, investment, marketing research and marketing management.

Student Voices

“Personally, studying two fields at the same time does not make the work more difficult. Instead, it makes studying less boring and much more enjoyable. I no longer rely on business experts for project feasibility or engineers for technical viability because GEBP equips me with those skills from day one.”
