Professional Accreditation

All degree programmes offered by the HKU Engineering are accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), and our graduates are eligible to pursue professional qualifications (e.g. Registered Professional Engineer) from the HKIE or from other overseas institutions. The accreditation is recognised worldwide at regions such as Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, United States.

Destinations of engineering graduates:

Graduates are well prepared for a broad range of career paths in engineering, including research and development, manufacturing, design and consulting, as well as further study. Some may also branch out into fields beyond engineering, such as business, education or social and community services.

  1. Robotics Engineering: Graduates are prepared for diverse career paths in robotics and autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, technological innovation and research and development. They may engage in the development and application of intelligent robots, autonomous vehicles, drones, AI-enabled systems and smart manufacturing technologies.
  2. Civil Engineering: Employers included various government departments (e.g. Architectural Services Department, Civil Engineering and Development Department, Environmental Protection Department, etc); the MTR Hong Kong; developers; and consulting and construction firms.
  3. Computer/Electrical/ Electronic Engineering: Graduates may pursue careers in various engineering fields, including ambient computing, big data processing, robotic and autonomous systems, smart power systems, modern electric transportation, and intelligent built environments.
  4. Data and Systems Engineering: Graduates will be valuable assets to manufacturing corporations, consultancy firms, e-commerce companies, retail companies, public utilities, banks, and transportation and logistics companies such as airport and railway corporations and container terminals.
  5. Mechanical Engineering: Graduates may work in industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical, and energy, as well as in emerging fields like nanotechnology, robotics, and renewable energy.
